2010 Honda Accord Official Detail

The 2010 Honda Accord lineup receives new features on certain models with an expanded application of Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® to vehicles equipped with leather seating surfaces (previously exclusive to navigation-equipped models) and new rear seat ventilation ducts on Accord Sedan EX and EX-L models for more-direct rear passenger airflow. Subtle modifications include graphically optimized climate control buttons and the addition of a trunk roof lining on Accord EX models.

“The Honda Accord offers something for a diverse range of people seeking anything from a comfortable family car to an aggressive coupe with looks and power,” said Erik Berkman, vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “The feature changes to the 2010 Honda Accord elevates its appeal and supports a legendary reputation as a class leader for quality and customer satisfaction.”

The Accord Sedan’s exterior expresses an upscale and powerful presence with a distinctive 6-sided grille, flared fenders and inset character lines sculpted into the sides of the body. Building on the sedan’s design character, the Accord Coupe’s unique muscular stance is highlighted by a longer hood, projector beam headlights and a sleek, lower-profile roofline.

Interior styling on all models seeks to provide attainable luxury with generous standard equipment, world-class ergonomics and intuitive vehicle controls. Available premium features include the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Activation and XM® Radio. The front seats are designed to provide generous lateral support and complement the Accord’s sporty side. The fold-down, lockable rear seatback increases cargo-carrying versatility and also includes a lockable pass-through for long items like snow skis.

New for 2010, a more-contrasting “lighter” gray color theme for the climate control buttons on all models helps to better differentiate the system controls in relation to nearby dark gray audio system buttons. Models equipped with the available dual-zone automatic climate control enhance the manual fan control override button to include on/off functionality with corresponding changes to the button graphic. For additional simplicity, the dual-zone activation button name changes to “SYNC” from “DUAL.”

Available engine choices include a V-6 and a 4-cylinder engine. The 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine produces 271-horsepower and takes advantage of Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology that can deactivate up to half of the cylinders while cruising to improve fuel economy. The VCM system contributes to an EPA city/highway fuel economy rating of 19/293 miles per gallon in the Accord Sedan V-6.

The performance-oriented Accord V-6 Coupe with 6-speed manual transmission exclusively has a 3.5-liter V-6 VTEC engine (without VCM, hence no “i” in VTEC) that offers an exclusive valvetrain, intake and exhaust system that broadens the torque curve in the low- to mid-rpm range.

A 190-horsepower 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine is standard in the Accord Sedan EX, EX-L and Accord Coupe LX-S, EX and EX-L. The 2.4-liter Accord Sedan LX and LX-P four-cylinder engine produces 177 hp and features a DOHC i-VTEC valvetrain system. When equipped with the available automatic transmission, both 4-cylinder engines achieve an EPA rating of 21/31miles per gallon city/highway.

Available transmissions include a 5-speed manual (standard with all 4-cylinder engines), a 5-speed automatic (available with all 4-cylinder engines and standard on V-6-powered models) and an available 6-speed manual transmission on the Accord Coupe EX-L V-6.

For safety, the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE®) is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE™ design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a crash.

The double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, a sophisticated arrangement for any vehicle, inspire spirited handling performance while also supporting a comfortable ride. The 2008 Accord Sedan comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, or 16- or 17-inch aluminum wheels depending on the model.

Three audio systems are available – all with MP3/Windows Media® Audio (WMA) playback capability and an auxiliary input jack. The standard system provides a single-disc CD player, six speakers and 160 watts of power. A Radio Data System (RDS) displays information broadcast by participating radio stations that often includes call letters, station type (searchable by genre) and programming information. Steering wheel audio controls come standard on every Accord. The Accord Sedan EX and Coupe LX-S add a 6-disc in-dash changer.

A premium 270-watt audio system comes standard on Accord EX Coupe and Sedan EX-L models, and includes a six-disc CD changer and seven speakers including an 8-inch subwoofer. XM Radio is standard equipment on all Accord EX-L models.

The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice activation (available on Accord EX-L) uses an 8-inch screen and an interface dial for user input. Features include the Zagat Survey™ guide for restaurants, nightlife, hotels and attractions. New for 2010, Accord EX-L models now include Bluetooth HandsFreeLink as standard equipment for connecting wirelessly connecting compatible mobile phones.

The Accord Coupe has 17-inch aluminum wheels standard, with 18-inch aluminum wheels standard on the Accord V-6 Coupe with 6-speed manual transmission. Every model features four-wheel disc brakes.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS spy shot

Porsche is on a roll now that it’s committed to giving the 911 a facelift. Porsche has already revealed the carrera and carreras .(including 4 and 4s versions),targa 4 and 4s version, and last week we saw a spy shot of the updated turbo. So what’s left are the updates to the GT2, GT3, GT3 RS. All will likely look the same (except for the extra room for the GT2’s turbocharger,) so this spy shot of the GT3 RS should hold for the rest of the speciality line.

Set to debut in 2010, the biggest improvement will be in the engine bay. The addition of direction injection should boost performance noticeably past the current GT3 RS’s 415 hp. Exterior changes include LED daytime lights, redesigned taillights, larger air intakes and a new lip spoiler.

Mercedes E-Class Stretch Limousine

Less than a month ago Mercedes-Benz showed the world its new E-Class sedan at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Now a limousine based on the car has been spied driving on a public road. One question asked at this point in time would go something like "why would anyone hide an E-Class limo under heavy camouflage"? The answer would be "only if it was an official E-Class Pullman." Of course that is pure speculation right now but any other explanation needs serious scrutiny. Independent limo companies simply start a job using an existing vehicle and finish it inside a workshop. They hardly ever venture out into the open for testing purposes like the big manufacturers let alone hide their unfinished work this way.

If indeed this is an E-Class Pullman what can be expected from it is a car stretched to over 5 metres (based on the fact that a 2009 S-Class Pullman measures 6.4 metres) in length. It would be fitted with all manner of passenger-pampering amenities such as DVD screens, plush leather interior, satellite navigation, a powerful sound system and maybe even a bar fridge. The windows appear thick and green leading to speculation that this is a bulletproof Guard version too.

Alfa Romeo Brera S

Very few sport cars are developed only for Britain’s roads. Alfa Romeo has intended these cars for the true driver’s cars. After a year of extensive suspension and chassis developments, Prodrive, the worlds-leading motor sport specialist, Voices out their opinion on this car with outstanding driver feedback and handling. Different from other cars, this unique addition to Alfa Romeo’s UK range of cars has limited their models to individual 500 cars. The power of this car exists in two direct injection petrol engine, the 185 bhp 2.2 JTS and the 260 bhp 3.2 V6 JTS.

Nicholas Bernard, the marketing director at Alfa Romeo UK comments: “Significantly, the Alfa Brera S isn’t simply about brute force, it’s about how the available power is transferred to the road and how the road surface is communicated back to the driver to bring new levels of sports handling and driver-focused confidence and involvement.” Prodrive engineers experimented to match their 2008 model, extensive tuning exercises achieves the desired ride/handling abilities. With a quick steering response driving enthusiasts in the UK won’t have to worry about accidents.

Porshe 911

Porsche has been refining, redesigning and updating the basic shape of the 911 sports car for more than 40 years, with versions such as the removable-roof Targa, the cabriolet (convertible), the four-wheel-drive 4S, the awesome Turbo, and high-performance versions called GT2 and GT3. The engine has gone from a VW-based four-cylinder opposed air-cooled engine in the first 911 to a Porche-designed, liquid-cooled six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged in some models, but always nestled behind the rear window.

The 2008 Porsche 911 GT2 is the latest model added to the 911 model range, already the broadest ever offered. The addition of the GT2 marks the third time the 911 has been offered in GT2 form.

The 2008 GT2 is the quickest and fastest Porsche 911 ever built, capable of 0-60 mph acceleration times under 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph.

It also offers race-car agility. But the most amazing thing is there's no down side (other than the price, of course). It's quite easy to live with this car and it could even be a daily driver. That's in a car with performance that would have been competitive at Le Mans not too long ago.

Unlike some other models, like the GT3, which is intended for and homologated for, track racing, the 911 GT2 is a completely equipped, luxury-laden road car that just happens to be lighter, quicker, faster and more agile than the other 911 models.

In essence, the GT2 is a slightly stripped-down 911 Turbo with more power, lightweight components and without all-wheel drive. Its closest competitors in price would be a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera or an Aston Martin V8 Vantage , both of which it can outrun easily. The GT2 costs a less than the Ferrari F430 and the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

The 911 GT2 comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat six that generates 530 horsepower, 50 hp more than the Turbo, with 505 pound-feet of torque available from just above idle to 4500 rpm, making it extremely flexible and willing in any of its six gears. It gets the extra 50 hp by using its two turbochargers with a very clever new intake system. While most other 911 models are offered with a choice of transmissions, the GT2 is manual only.

BMW X6

Despite it’s BMW X6-like looks, this isn’t a crossover coupe kinda thing, it’s actually a C-segment executive sedan, set to be Volvo’s new weapon against the likes of the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. We’ll see it on the roads in 2010, but for now let’s have a look at the concept version.

Under the hood is a new 1.6 liter GTDi engine. GTDi stands for Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection and it can produce 180 horsepower from such a small displacement engine. The GTDi engine also has start-stop function, and is mated to a Powershift twin clutch transmission. CO2 emissions are rated at 119g/km and fuel consumption is pegged at 5.0 liters consumed per 100km travelled. Some technical features that help achieve this fuel consumption and also contribute to better aerodynamics are flat underbody panels, the use of lightweight materials, and a grille shutter which closes to reduce air drag whenever there is less need for air cooling.

The exterior is clearly derived from the aggressive styling of the Volvo XC60, but there are little touches here and there which make you feel they really paid attention to detail with the car. For example, the headlamps have Scandinavian influences in it. Apparently they create the image of two miniature Viking longboats sailing side by side, one for the main beam and one for the dipped beam. This will probably be dropped in the production version for a conventional projector and reflector combination.

Volvo says the lines on the car do not end abruptly but instead flows continuously from the front to the end of the car, inspired by fast sweeps of a race track. The X6-like stance is probably due to the large 7-spoke wheels which are 20 inches in size and wrapped with low profile tyres. Hiding behind the wheel spokes are brake calipers which are painted bronze to match the exterior “Warm Liquid Copper” color.

The interior is much more experimental, and according to Volvo Cars design director Steve Mattin, it indicates Volvo’s future interior design direction. The floating center stack has been revealed previously and is made of solid Orrefors crystal, but we probably won’t see such luxury in the production v

ersion. This center stack flows from the instrument panel all the way to the rear seat’s backrest.

Anyway, enough of the design details, as sometimes a designer’s justification of the themes that inspired his design does not make sense. Let’s have a look at the safety features that Volvo has built into the new Volvo S60 Concept. which hopefully will cross over to the production model, or another production Volvo at least if they are too expensive to include with a C-segment car.

Volvo has allowed the car to automatically brake to avoid collisions with the car in front of you if the difference of speed between the two vehicles is less than 25km/h. This is because apparently studies show that half of all drivers who hit another vehicle from behind do not brake prior to the collision.

In an emergency, the driver gets an audible warning with a white flashing light in the windscreen’s HUD. It looks like a flashing brake light coming on in front. This is an enhancement over the current system found in cars such as the S80 where a light on top of the dash flashes, but now its changed to a flashing in the heads-up display. If the driver does not respond to this warning and collision is imminent, the car brakes with full braking power. However the main idea is still to warn the driver of the impending collision and let him take evasive action on his own, with the auto brake to be used only at the very last minute as a last resort.

Aston Martin Rapide

This is apparently a new rendering of the production version Aston Martin Rapide that has found its way onto the internet. The rendering shows that it’s pretty much very near to the concept car that was displayed at the 2006 Detroit show. A previously released rendering of the front end of the production car (you will find this image after the jump) shows the futuristic headlamps have been replaced with conventional projector headlamps.

Now seriously, this is how a sedan based on sports car design language should look now. An Aston Martin’s coupe-like form is much easier to transform into a sedan compared to a Porsche’s frog-hatch stance. Expect a price range of between US$160,000 to US$175,000 in markets with realistic prices, and add the necessary taxes and etcher for the Malaysian price.

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S

The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S is scheduled for a Detroit 09 debut and is supposed to be the “ultimate expression of Maserati’s sportiness” in the Quattroport range. While power is only up by a very little amount, most of the technical changes that differentiate the Quattroporte S and this new Sport GT S are in the details such as how aggressive it look and what kind of sound emits from its exhaust.

A minor increase from 317kW to 323kW (433 bhp) is achieved via remapping the 4.7 liter V8 engine also found in the Quattroporte S. The car’s gearshift management software also has been updated. The fron and rear suspension features single-rate dampers, stiffer springs and also contribute to lowering the car’s ride height.

On the exterior, the Sport GT S has a new black grille with concave vertical fins. The Trident logo has red accents, similiar to other sporty Maseratis. The headlamps have a metallic titanium finish, and the side trim on the doors, door handles, and twin oval exhaust tailpipes is called “shadowline”, which once again implies a darker look.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

The sexy Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 goes topless with this new Spyder edition, which takes the drop top Gallardo up from the old 519 PS engine to the new LP560-4’s 5.2 liter V10 producing 560 horsepower and 540Nm of torque sent to all four-wheels. Other numeric improvements are found in the time it takes to swap cogs, which is now 40% faster in the Corsa mode of the E-Gear single clutch automated transmission. The time it takes to open the soft top remains the same at about 20 seconds. Will Clarkson plonk down some cash for one to replace his 2006 Gallardo Spyder?

Ascari A10

The Ascari A10 is a super automobile developed by the British company Ascari Cars. The car can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds.

This super car costs about $665,000 (Rs 3 crore).

The A10 features a 5.0 L V8 engine producing 600 hp. The engine delivers power via a six-speed manual transmission. The car has a carbon fibre bodywork, which makes it quite light and terrifyingly fast. The estimated weight of the car is 1,280 kg.

The company says that the A10 can achieve a top speed of a mindboggling 350 kmph.

BMW Z4

Second generation BMW Z4 spotted undisguised!

Jason of BMW Z4-centric forum zpost managed to get his hands on this shot of the second generation BMW Z4 due to be unveiled just before the end of the month.

The sDrive monikers will probably first appear on this car, as evident from the sDrive badge you can just barely make out on the front fenders because the photo resolution isn’t high enough. The Z4’s sDrive will be rear wheel drive but will feature a torque vectoring device that can vary torque distribution between the two wheels on the rear axle without having to apply brakes.

01 Sep 09 The Mserati MC12 Corsa #3: My Dream Car!

EBay is a place that you can truly find everything in the world. Earlier today, when I logged onto eBay, what I found was a beautiful, beautiful Mserati MC12 Corsa #3 – this car is a 2006 and I have to say that this is a car that many people do not know about.

Maserati is a brand that is not only very, very rare but if you are lucky enough to actually have the money to buy a car like this? Oh, it is going to cost you a pretty, pretty penny.

The Mserati MC12 Corsa #3 is actually one of the best cars in the world when you are in the market for a sports car – it is certainly one car that I know will go for a heck of a lot of money and the proud owner will certainly be willing to pay it. After all, who would sell a used Mserati MC12 Corsa #3?

While right now – no word on pricing for the 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster, I have to say that I think that it is going to go fast.

22 Jul 09 Pontiac Solstice — It’s My Dream Car!

If there is one car that I have been dreaming about for decades – it has got to be the Pontiac Solstice. This car is not only one of the sexiest cars that Pontiac has come up with, but it is also one of the fastest. While I know that they are doing away with the Pontiac brand for good – I truly hope that people hold onto the Pontiac Solstice and sell them eventually … when they are worth a lot of money.

Now, onto the specs of this beautiful car; the Pontiac Solstice is actually equipped with a pretty standard 2.4-liter, 173 HP engine that can achieve about 19 miles to the gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. This car is a 5-speed manual with overdrive and the price ranges anywhere from $24,000 all the way up to about $31,000.

The Pontiac Solstice is the way to go – in my mind at least. The body is chic and sleek and it just looks beautiful from bumper to bumper!

It also sits on standard 20-inch BR wheels, which are extremely stylish yet durable all around. 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder for L.A. reveal

Weighing in at just 2,811 lbs, the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche available – from a company known for lightweight, proficient sports cars. This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the sports car – agile, powerful, open and efficient. This third Boxster model will join the Boxster and Boxster S and will make its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, December 2, 2009.

The newest member of the Boxster family stands out from the other versions of Porsche’s mid-engined roadster. Its low-slung, lightweight soft top – when closed – extends far to the rear to protect the driver and passenger from bright sunshine, wind and weather. This top, when combined with extra-low side windows and two striking bulges on the single-piece rear lid, provides the Boxster Spyder with a sleek silhouette reminiscent of the Carrera GT.

The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4L six-cylinder engine with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. Maximum output is 320 hp, 10 hp more than the Boxster S. The combination of 10 more hp and 176 pounds less weight than the Boxster S, plus an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder an inch, a lower center of gravity, a standard limited slip differential, and exclusive wheels provides the kind of driving dynamics that back up the unique look. Aluminum door skins and lightweight interior door panels from the 911 GT3 RS contribute to the weight reduction.
When equipped with Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and the Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Top track speed is 166 mph with the roof open.

Fundamentally, the entire Boxster family is the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder and RS 60 of the Fifties and Sixties, all sharing the same mid-engine roadster concept. Low weight and supreme agility combine to provide outstanding driving pleasure.

In 2004 and 2008 Porsche produced limited editions of the Boxster bearing the additional name Spyder, honoring the 550 and RS 60. In contrast, the new Boxster Spyder is a regular, but specially developed and upgraded production model as compared with the Boxster and Boxster S.

The 2011 Boxster Spyder goes on sale February 2010. U.S. pricing is $61,200.

Ford Developing New Police Interceptor for 2011

Ford’s P71-package Crown Victorias have held somewhat of a stranglehold on the American police car business for the past few decades; the Blue Oval claims it makes a full 75 percent of police vehicles sold each year. But with production of the current Crown Vic (pictured above) set to end in 2011 and the recent announcement of a police-spec chevrolet caprice ppv from GM, Ford risked losing its grip on the cop-car market.

Ford counters with the announcement of a new, purpose-built Police Interceptor that will replace the Crown Victoria. Currently still under development, the new PI will reportedly be safer, more durable, more efficient, and a better performer than the aging Crown Vic. As to what shape the new vehicle will take, it’s possible that Ford will follow GM’s lead and based its police car on a rear-wheel-drive Australian model, most likely the Falcon. This would not be a simple import-and-modify job, however, since Ford does claim the new car will be engineered and built in America.

Full details should be available by early 2010, with deployment of the cars set for late 2011. We smell a comparo brewing, and it has the faintest hint of bacon.

2011 Lexus LFA V10 engine Super Sport Car

Lexus has finally taken the wraps of its new exclusive supercarthe 2011 Lexus LFA. “The LFA is a thoroughbred supercar, a machine engineered to achieve a single goal – to deliver a supreme driving experience,” said Chief Engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi.
The Lexus LFA coupe will be produced at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City. Toyota will make just 500 examples at rate of 20 units per month “to ensure the finest build quality and attention to detail.”
The UK launch price for the LFA is €368,000 (approximately £336,000).

First Drive: 2010 Lotus Evora

First Drive: 2010 Lotus Evora

From the Distiller of Single-Malt Sports Cars, a Premium Blend.
May 08, 2009
/ By Arthur St. Antoine

First you scan the options list -- touchscreen navigation, premium leather trim, rear parking sensors, iPod adapter, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, backup camera, Alpine audio system, power-folding mirrors. Next you check the badge on the nose. Then you're sure you're looking at the wrong car.

Except you aren't. The arrival of the new mid-engine lotus Evora, due on our shores in January, may mark the first time in nearly two decades that the words "Lotus" and "shoehorn" haven't been used in the same sentence.

Following the demise of the much-unloved Excel in 1992 ("mercy killing" might be a better term), Lotus Cars stopped building two-plus-twos to concentrate instead on unleashing a steady volley of tiny, minimal-frills two-seaters -- Elises and Exiges and assorted variations thereof. Each has offered a driving experience akin to grabbing hold of a live high-voltage wire. And each has coddled its two occupants with all the comfort and luxury of a discount motel's Guantanamo suit.

Well, I'm in rainy Scotland today, and I've just finished a three-hour drive in the new Evora across green hills, past wave-swept lochs, down battered two-lane carriageways, and...I'm fine. Great, in fact. No post-go-kart stress disorder. No residual engine ringing in the ears. No lingering embarrassment at having poorly executed my dismount from the driver's seat and ended up sprawled across the asphalt with a foot caught in the steering wheel. What's more, I could've brought my wife and daughter along and they'd have thoroughly enjoyed it, too.

The Evora marks a turning point for the British maker. This may be the first-ever Lotus built for everyone.

Aston Martin Vantage Gets V12 Power, New Exterior High on Style

The Aston Martin Vantage has broken cover with a 12 cylinder model featuring some new exterior design and performance technology that should bring the aging Vantage back into relevance. The 2010 Aston Martin V12 Vantage, as the new British sports car is aptly called, gets a big bump in power and a new stability control system to help put it to the road.

Shaking the "grand tourer" moniker often applied to larger, more unweildy Aston Martin models, the V12 Vantage is pure sports car through and through. A 6 speed conventional manual is mounted behind the driver for better weight distribution and drives the rear wheels.

The V12 powerplant is the same excellent unit found in the current DBS, producing 510 horses and 420 lb-ft. of torque, good for 4.1 seconds through 60 mph and a top speed of 190 mph, Aston says.

On the outside, the 2010 V12 Vantage gets a host of minor styling changes to differentiate itself from "lesser" V8 Vantage models, most noticable of which is the louvered hood. Carbon fiber front and rear air dams, as well as low and lean skirts from Aston Martin Racing round out the package.

2010 V12 Vantage pricing is not yet announced, we'll have to wait for Geneva for that. Initial reports have put the V12 Vantage at around $250,000.

For those who want a piece of serious Aston Martin performance but don't want to drop a cool million for the exclusive One-77, Aston Martin may have just the remedy. Expect a V12 Vantage release date of Q3 2009.

Stricter EU regulations threaten European sports car manufacturers

News is that the EU has proposed a 120-grams-per-km emissions standard by 2012. This new regulation could adversely affect the European carmakers, edging them towards closure. Big Daddies of the business like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin and Porsche, would find it very difficult to comply with this ruling. LeftLane cites this example: the feather-light and relatively fuel efficient Lotus Elise S emits 196 g/km, whereas the segment average is in the 200 to 500 g/km range. According to Reuters, since exotic sports car are driven very rarely, and their limited production numbers means they only account for 0.3 percent of EU total car emissions. Whatever the case looks like the sports car industry just got a heavy-duty jolt!

Concept Cars: Paulin VR Concept

The VR concept is a proposal for a 2012 sports car from Swedish design firm Paulin Motor Company, led by former Ford designer Daniel Paulin.

Paulin is a company which attempts to predict the future design direction of vehicles, and the VR Concept is the first of their designs. A "precision crafted performance car" which blends sculptured surfaces and clean graphics. The Paulin VR Concept is "about simplicity and functionality in true Scandinavian fashion."

The Paulin VR Concept is laid out around a 2-seat, front engine configuration. Among the most striking visible features are the wheel surrounds both front and rear which are a different color to the rest of the body, and an expansive glass fighter-jet style canopy which opens in a dramatic manner, the windscreen lifts up and forward and the doors open in a scissor-like manner to enable entry.

Other less noticeable yet novel features of the Paulin VR Concept include the two-part retractable rear spoiler with adjustable down force which when not in use hides neatly into the rear bodywork, and rearview external cameras positioned above the rear arches replacing the side mirrors - the display is positioned above the instrument panel.

During the development of the VR Concept Paulin worked with another Swedish company, Opticore, who provided the visual tools to display the concept to such a high level of detail without the need for scale models.

New Acura NSX 2009

After an arduous day of preparation, Honda engineers have finally hit the race track in their mule for the next NSX. Seeing this prototype in the light of day reveals proportions consistent with Acura’s Advanced Sports Car Concept, which debuted at the ‘07 North American International Auto show.

The S2000-based body panels used on this mule don’t exactly correspond to the show car, but it may tell us of the direction Acura is traveling with the next NSX.

First of all, the stacked exhaust set-up on this mule looks similar to the placement on the concept. The mule’s large central air-intake at the front suggests that the production NSX may veer away from the styling of the concept, which had a smoother nose with air-intakes mounted wide on the front bumper. Given the lukewarm reception given to the most recent NSX concept, the design transition from concept to production was expected to involve marked styling changes.

The expansive hood on this mule definitely looks large enough to handle a V-8 or V-10 engine.
